Born in Belleville, Illinois, Mark May is a Special Education teacher who now lives in Reading, Pennsylvania. Mark originally created the Robots as a way of releasing stress accumulated during the day as an emotional support teacher in an urban school district. Now employed by another urban school district, Mark continues to make Robots to work off stress and help clean the world.
All of the materials Mark uses are found, salvaged, donated, or purchased from flea markets in his travels. Most of the wood used in the construction of his Robots comes from the local Home Depot’s bargain lumber bin, where wood is sold before being scraped. Mark tries to leave the objects as he finds them, to help educate future generations about the items of the past.
